Ignoring an issue with your roof can lead to more sever issues which can quickly escalate the price of the ending cost. In addition to this it can also increase the need to reroof. Repairing roof prices vary on the the issue itself and the amount of materials needed. So if its a broken tile another will be needed to replace it.

Broken tiles are very dangerous as parts of the tile could easily fall off the roof onto someones head or damage the gutter system.

We believe in honesty and perfection, so all work will be at a fair price and carried out to the greatest of standards. Call us to see for yourselves.

Removed roof tiles, replaced the old roof membrane with a new breathable membrane and removed the old rotting wooden battens and replaced with new treated wooden battens.

Repaired the valley and put the existing tiles back on the roof since they were in a good condition, replacing any broken or missing tiles.

  1. Installing a new roof will start with a proper assessment of the existing roof and deciding what materials will be used or re-used.
  2. Ordering new materials and having them delivered to the site along with a skip for disposing of all the waste material.
  3. Scaffolding may be required, but is not always an essential part of the process.
  4. The existing roof materials have to be carefully stripped and removed starting from the top of the roof with the ridge tiles. Slates and tiles are then passed down exposing the roof timbers and tile laths. By now the roof will pretty much look like a skeleton! The laths are removed so only the main structure of the roof is left and now is the time any rotten or split roof joists are replaced.
  5. The timbers are now covered with a layer of breathable felt which is layered from the bottom of the roof upwards. This allows any moisture or rain penetrated from a broken tile to run down the roof and into the gutter. It acts like a second shield. At this stage even though there are no tiles on the roof you can consider the roof watertight.
  6. Tile battens are fixed into place with galvanised nails at the correct gauge depending on the size and type of the tile. These create the ‘rows’ of tiles. It is important these are space correctly to give the proper overlap of each tile or slate.
  7. The roof tiles or slates are now fitted to the battens. Concrete tiles only need fixing and certain intervals where as slates that do not have hanging nibs need to be fixed with individual nails. Any tiles up against valleys or roof windows are cut to size.Any ‘first fix’ leadwork such as soakers or secret gutters are now fitted into place and covered over with the tiles.Any remaining leadwork such as flashings are now completed and ridges are dry fixed to finally make your new roof 100% watertight!

New roof but the chimney has been neglected.

This chimney is in need of some re-pointing

and also weeding as there are plants sticking out from the top!

Most chimney repairs require the brickwork to be re-pointed to stabilize it before it does any damage or collapses.

The mortar, will over time, crack and crumble between the bricks of a chimney due to the weather conditions i.e. wind and rain.  It is cheaper to have the chimney re-pointed than to leave it as the mortar, once it starts to crumble will eventually cause the bricks to become unstable.  No-one wants any damage to their roofs or anything to fall onto cars or people who may be passing below the building.  We can inspect the chimney for you to see if it requires any work.
